Dancing with the Designer
“Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.” Ecclesiastes 9:7
This painting began as an unknown journey into the colour blue. The colour of healing and humanity. I sensed a huge open cavern in a tightly held secret place. Then there came a ‘suddenly’ of spiritual explosive activity, which formed a covering over the secret place.
The foundational roots of this tree are well established. The tree becomes a festival maypole; which represents celebrations, especially of the joining together of families as happens with weddings. I sense the word collaboration is significant, as the maypole dance requires precise cooperation. For centuries children have danced for joy with ribbons and garlands around trees, traditionally in May at the beginning of Spring, celebrating the return of ease, warmth, and contentment.
There are eight ribbons, eight represents ‘new beginnings’, and the ribbons form five fish-shapes, five represents ‘grace’. Grace means the Lord’s empowering presence enabling you to fulfil what He has called you to. The fish, the symbol for Christianity, is covert rather than overt, symbolising the position of influence within the business marketplace. The ribbons are ordered and defined. There is a precision in their weaving, as in Genesis, when the Spirit hovered over chaos with creative energy to bring order. I see stylised wings of the dove in the very centre of the ribbon design. However, without childlike joy, divine design would become meaningless and remain void. Not every activity has a practical productivity, sometimes the most productive thing we can do is play. The Father gives joy, and receives joy in our delight. The dance for joy always has His approval.
The four colours of the ribbons are white, yellow, gold and orange. These represent purity, happiness, glory and intimacy with the Spirit. There are four elements in the painting: Safe covering; Fun and laughter; Divine order; and Invitation. There is an invitation to live a life of celebration. You have strong foundations and the Holy Spirit covers you. From deep within the secret place, He dances with you. There is a paradox of spontaneity and precision working together.
