“Heaven’s kingdom realm is also like a jewel merchant in search of rare pearls. When he discovered one very precious and exquisite pearl, he immediately gave up all he had in exchange for it.” Matthew 13:45-46 The Passion
When I began painting, I sensed a journey with many zigzags and sudden changes of direction. At first, the pathway led into the eye of a storm, with much confusion surrounding the journey, it became a whirlwind vortex and then, a wonderful peace settled. I felt the enormous love of the Father in this place, and realised I was painting a pearl. And I was inside that pearl!
The birth of a pearl is a miraculous event. It is formed organically inside a living shelled mollusks by fluid layers of nacre (mother-of-pearl) laid down as a defense mechanism to cover an irritation. The lustrous pearl is formed fully complete; the gem does not need any cutting or polishing. The shimmering iridescence and inner glow is unlike any other gemstone on earth.
Just as a pearl does not show the irritation, but only displays iridescent beauty, no one sees the difficult journey encountered on the inside. You display only the beauty of ‘the pearl of great price’ to those looking on.
The final addition to the painting was the gold covering. Gold represents divine glory. I sensed the Lord saying you are in His protective shield and always have been. You have divine protection, even though you may feel your purpose and vision has been sidetracked or distracted, He has been preparing you. You have never been hidden from Him, only for Him. The greatest pearls take the longest to form before emerging from the deep waters. The time is coming for what has been formed within you in the secret place to be released.
Description
Giclee Reproductions are printed with a 3cm white border.
‘Shield’ has been selected from the book 40 Days hath November to be reproduced as Giclee prints. Technically speaking, our prints are not prints at all, not in the common use of the term, but are fine art reproductions of original works. The quality is so high that it is difficult to tell between the reproduction and the original. Giclee Reproductions are premium high-resolution digital images produced on museum quality, Canson 300-320gsm Cotton Rag (fine cotton fibres woven into a paper-like product) printed with archival Canon Lucia EX 12-colour pigment high-performance inks. Canon Lucia EX pigment inks achieve an “under glass” permanence of 95 years for colour images.
Giclee can be confusing, as many may incorrectly assume that all digital printing is equal. Essentially Giclee (pronounced ‘zhee-clay’) is an invented name from the French word ‘le gicleur’ meaning ‘to squirt’. Originally coined in 1991 to distinguish between common digital prints and the highest quality form of art reproductions using wide-format inkjet printing technology. In 30 years, this technology has advanced enormously, giving an even wider distinction between Giclee reproductions and digital prints. However, we still use the word ‘print’ so that we are easily understood.
Fine Art Giclee Reproductions should be framed behind glass, using a matte to separate them from the glass. Consult your local framer for the best way to frame your reproduction and ensure your artwork still looks amazing for 3 – 4 generations.
